(Community of Hypertension Eradicator)
CIMSA FK UNPAD
One of CIMSA FK Unpad’s sustainable project is CORONER, stands for Community of Hypertension Eradicator. Its goal is to decrease the prevalence of hypertension in Cipacing village, because, based on research in 2014, in Cipacing, there were 59.7% of people who got hypertension. It is held for 4 years. This year is the last year of this project. Its target is Cipacing cadres and people, especially RW 08 which is divided into 3 RT: RT 1,2, and 3.
Now, CORONER has entered the last year and we are committed to make the theme: Hypertension, Its Prevention, and Its Medication because nowadays, people usually have already known about hypertension but don’t know how to prevent and cure it.
On this first intervention, which was carried out on Saturday, September 21, 2019, in Posyandu of Cipacing, we started the activity with preparation and introduction. Here, we explain to the cadres, Bu Juju, that we are from CIMSA FK UNPAD where CIMSA is a non-profit, non-political, non-governmental, and independent organization consisting of medical students and focused on improving national health by empowering medical students. After that, we invited the participants to come to Posyandu to check the blood pressure as the assessment of this project. Then, we invited people to come to Posyandu to check blood pressure and give education about hypertension, its prevention and medication and also about healthy lifestyle. As there were not a lot of people to come to Posyandu, then, we came to their houses one by one and checked their blood pressure and wrote it in the table as the assessment of this project. For people who came to Posyandu, we bonded by eating fruits together while talking about a healthy lifestyle. Besides checking the blood pressure of Cipacing people, we also invited them to come to the next intervention that would be held on the next day: Sunday, 22 September 2019. There would be gymnastics and exercise that would be held with Yayasan Jantung Indonesia.
While checking blood pressure, we also gave education to people who had normal blood pressure, pre-hypertension, and hypertension. We also asked about their daily activity and dietary intake to know what the causes of their hypertension were. We also gave education to them about what they had to do if they had hypertension. We told about food that could increase their blood pressure to make sure that they had to avoid eating them. We also told them to consume the medicine of hypertension regularly for those who had high blood pressure and had prescribed by doctors to consume some medicine. In the last, we educated them to do exercise regularly and also told them that on the next day, we would have gymnastics.
