About 62% of children had experienced violence, with 1 out 11 girls and 1 out of 17 boys experienced sexual violence. However, 73% of teenagers feel that sexual education is not adequate in Indonesia. Out of 105 respondents, 91 girls and 14 girls at the age range of 12-20,  the average score of knowledge is 5.28 out of 6, which is considered good. This year, we held a community development about Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Communicating Sexual Issues in Teenagers and Young Adults (CONSENT).

The objective of CONSENT is to improve SCORA CIMSA UI members knowledge about CSE (Comprehensive Sexuality Education), train SCORA CIMSA UI members to become a peer educator of sexual and reproductive health issue, and to improve SCORA CIMSA UI members skill in giving education about sexual and reproductive health.

CONSENT, an abbreviation for Communicating Sexual Issues in Teenagers and Young Adults, is a community development held by SCORA CIMSA UI. The goal of this community development is to increase the knowledge of 30 12-16 years old children in RT 004/08 Bojong Pondok Terong, Cipayung, Depok, about CSE that can be evaluated in the pretest and posttest increase and becoming a peer educator according to SCORA CIMSA UI standard.

The intervention started at 10 am. CONSENT team from SCORA CIMSA UI joined the event virtually by Zoom while Depok Kita team from BEM UI (our partner) gathered the participants on the spot, at Mushola Al-Ikhlas, Pondok Bojong Terong. The event started with opening and ice breaking, followed with education about puberty, the importance of comprehensive sex education, and basic reproduction health. The education was given by SCORA CIMSA UI members, Gina and Savira. Then, we held a game regarding the learned materials where the children played enthusiastically. Before closing the meeting, the participants are given souvenirs such as tote bags.

As the event went on, the participants were very excited and enthusiastic throughout the meeting. The children were very happy to participate in the quizzes, creating a very fun and lively atmosphere.

We finished the first intervention at about 12 pm with closing remarks. We hope that CONSENT’s first intervention gives valuable experiences and increases the knowledge about CSE (Comprehensive Sexuality Education).
