This medical and health check up activity organized by CIMSA UNRI was conducted in order to enhance community awareness about diarrhea along with its prevention and treatment. The activity that was organized by CIMSA FK UNRI was called CERIA short for "Cegah Diare pada Usia Dini". The activity was held on Saturday 8 June 2024 at the Melur Puskesmas Melur at 08.00 WIB to 11.05 WIB. The event started with a comprehensive seminar delivered by an internal medicine specialist (Sp.PD), who provided an in-depth overview of diarrhea, covering its definition, symptoms, transmission routes, causes, treatment options, and preventive measures. This seminar set the stage for the subsequent interactive and practical sessions, ensuring that the community members are well-informed and prepared to engage actively in the day's activities.
Following the seminar, participants underwent thorough health check-ups, which included measurements of body weight, height, body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, turgor, and oropharyngeal examinations. These health assessments were complemented by a sharing session, where participants could discuss their health concerns and receive personalized advice. The educational component of the event featured engaging activities such as games that taught the participants how to prepare Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) and practice proper handwashing techniques through a six-step method. These interactive stations not only made learning fun but also ensured that the crucial information on preventing and managing diarrhea was effectively conveyed.
To insure that the learning process was effective in increasing the participant’s knowledge, a quiz was conducted, followed by the distribution of prizes to the winners, which added an element of excitement and motivation. The event concluded with the distribution of snacks and educational leaflets, providing participants with tangible takeaways to reinforce their learning at home.
