According to the World Health Organization (WHO) standards, the ideal ratio of doctors to patients is 1: 1000. The mapping of doctors' distribution based on Human Health Resources (HRK) is still not evenly distributed. Most HRH is on the island of Java, namely in the province of West Java. 122,558 HRH, Central Java Province there are 152,356 HRH, and in East Java, namely 158,128 HRH, with the percentage of doctors in the Java area of  57.2% percent. With the most significant number of people in DKI Jakarta (13,887 people), Central Java (11,305 people), and East Java (13,034 people). Whereas in North Kalimantan, there are only 400 people, North Maluku 376 people, and the province with the minor medical personnel is West Papua with 342 people. Thus, we can conclude that there are considerable disparities between provinces in Indonesia.
The government has organized several programs to help distribute health personnel, especially doctors, to all regions in Indonesia, especially 3T areas.  Some of these programs include: Nusantara Sehat Indonesian Doctor Internship Program (PIDI) Non-Permanent Employee Doctors (PTT) Mandatory Specialist Doctor Work.
What are 3T Regions?
3T Regions The 3T regions (Frontier, Outermost, Disadvantaged) areas are areas with conditions directly adjacent to other countries. They are incomplete in terms of facilities and infrastructure, both public and health infrastructure.  According to data from the PPSDM Health Agency of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, there are 146 districts/cities in Indonesia which are included in the 3T area, with the majority in the Nusa Tenggara Islands Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Papua regions.
What is Internship?
Internship is the process of strengthening the quality of the doctor and dentist profession to apply the competencies obtained during education in an integrated, comprehensive, independent manner, and using the family medicine approach in order to understand and align the results of education and practice in the field.  Internship is the initial part of education to obtain the right to practice as a general practitioner or dentist.
