In 2020 there will be 543,075 PLHIV spread throughout Indonesia. However, not all PLHA routinely carry out HIV VL tests according to existing recommendations (Kemenkes, 2020). Only 3,950 (1%) of the total 394,769 PLHA had their viral load checked (SIHA, 2020). This figure is still very far from the total number of cases, even though viral load testing is important to assess the effectiveness of ARV therapy and reduce the potential for transmission of PLHIV. In addition, there are still many Indonesian people who do not understand clearly HIV/AIDS. At the time of World AIDS Day, we hope there will be awareness for the public to care more about health, especially HIV AIDS prevention.
The government hopes that by the end of 2024, the target of 90% discovery and 90% treatment of HIV/AIDS will be achieved. Current conditions, in 2022, out of the target of 97 thousand cases detected, only 13 thousand cases were found because there are still many Indonesian people who have not attended the VCT screening held by the local government. Until the end of June 2022, a total of 473,005 PLHIV were found and 163,562 PLHIV were currently being treated (Kemenkes, 2022).
The Ministry of Health and its partners want to invite all levels of society to achieve success in achieving three zero by 2030. HIV-AIDS prevention and control efforts aim to realize the Three Zero target by 2030, including no more transmission of new HIV infections, no more deaths as a result of AIDS, and there is no longer any stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA).
In 2017, the government launched the Fast Track 90-90-90 strategy which includes accelerating the attainment of 90% of people knowing their HIV status through testing or early detection; 90% of PLHA who know their HIV status started ARV therapy, and 90% of PLHA on ARV therapy succeeded in suppressing the amount of virus, thereby reducing the possibility of HIV transmission, and there was no stigma and discrimination against PLHA.
Thus, CARIES was organized to educate and alert communities so that they could detect HIV & AIDS ahead of time and be treated medically. This activity was held to support the government's program to reduce the number of HIV & AIDS.
