To commemorate Human Rights Day and International Day of People with Disabilities, SCORP CIMSA UNAIR held an activity called CAPABLE (Pursue the Educational and Professional Rights for People with Disabilities). We chose the theme "Educational and Professional Rights of Persons with Disabilities". In pre-event activities, we held an upgrading with two themes, which are "Health as Human Rights" and "Disaster Management" (as well as commemorating International Day of Disaster Risk Reduction). We also held an Instagram Live with Dr. Rahmat Yuliawan., SE., MM., AWP., CHRM. as KPS of Digital Office Management Airlangga University. We discussed “Realization of Inclusive Education for People with Disabilities” with the speakers.
On the first day of the main event, we visited the B.J. Habibie Orphanage by conducting motivational training titled "Achieve Your Dreams with Education''. Then, we continued by writing our dreams for the next 10 years, did a medical checkups for the orphanage employees and children, played educational games, donated to charity, and did other fun activities. On the second day, we held a talk show through Zoom Meeting with Mr. Alfian Andhika Yudhistira (The Second Chairman of DPD PERTUNI of East Java) as the speaker to discuss "Profession for Disabled Persons". Mr. Alfian came from the disabled community and he proved that anyone with a disability or disabilities can have a worthy education and profession. On the third day, we met the disabled students at the Sekolah Luar Biasa Yayasan Pembinaan Anak Cacat Surabaya (SLB YPAC) and motivated them to maintain their hard work at school. Other than that, we also gave them Vitamin C supplements as a symbol of us as a medical student organization to support their health.
To conclude our commemoration, we will make a motivational video (#DisabilitasJugaBisa) which will be shared on our Instagram @cimsaunair as the post-event. We are very pleased and grateful to have been holding this entire series of activities. Hopefully, these activities can lift our friends from the disabled community to pursue their rights to have valuable education and profession. Furthermore, we hope that these activities can develop a great character for all members of SCORP CIMSA UNAIR to be inclusive doctors for all people, including vulnerable people, in the future.
