Hello, CIMSA !

Since a long time ago, many women in this world have experienced injustice in various ways. Gender inequality is one example. There are so many cases related to gender inequality in Indonesia and this is caused by many Indonesian people who still have a patriarchal culture that is present in everyday life. The patriarchal culture that is still widely embraced by Indonesian society causes many incidents where women do not get the same rights as men.

Over time, many Indonesian people are aware that women have the same status as men. Women also have the same rights as men. Justice for Indonesian women has already started since the time of R.A Kartini who has struggled to get equal rights for women and men. That’s why, we as Indonesian youths must uphold gender equality for the sake of equality of human rights between women and men, and to eliminate all forms of discrimination, violence and harassment that women often experience.

However, it must be remembered that not only women can experience discrimination, violence, and harassment. Men can also experience this because gender-based violence can also affect anyone, even though women and children are the parties most at risk of experiencing gender-based violence. Therefore, we must increase our attention and concern for the high cases of gender-based violence around us so that we can prevent gender-based violence from occurring in Indonesia.

In order to celebrate International Women's Day, SCORA and SCORP CIMSA UPH decided to hold a Ground Campaign called BRICKS (Break Stereotype to Fight GBV & Gender Issues) with the aim of educating the public about various stereotypes around women, gender-based violence, and gender issues to empowering women. With this activity, we can increase the knowledge and awareness of the surrounding community regarding gender equality and gender based violence in Indonesia. This activity was held at Taman Kota 1 BSD on March 19th 2023.

Prior to the Ground Campaign which was held at Taman Kota 1 BSD, SCORA and SCORP CIMSA UPH also carried out a pre-activity training in the form of LPET (Local Peer Educator Training) which aims to educate SCORA and SCORP CIMSA UPH members to become good peer educators regarding matters around various stereotypes around women, gender-based violence, and gender issues to empower women. This activity was held on March 11th 2023. This activity was divided into 2 sessions in the form of presentations by PETRA. The first session is called “Basic Gender Based Violence” and the second session is called “Tackling Gender Issues in Youth”. Through BRICKS (Break Stereotype to Fight GBV & Gender Issues), it is hoped that this activity can raise awareness about gender equality and gender based violence in Indonesia.

There is no limit to what women can accomplish. Happy International Women’s Day to all of the beautiful and strong women out there.
