BRACELET
(Being Aware of Breast and Cervical Cancer by Learning with SCORA CIMSA UNAIR)
SCOPH CIMSA UNAIR
According to Global Cancer Observatory (2020), breast cancer contributes 16,6% and cervical cancer by 9,2% in Indonesia's number of cancer cases. Beside high confirmed cases, that fact is also followed by high mortality rate. This phenomenon proves that the public is in a state of lack of information about the dangers of breast and cervical cancer. Therefore, SCORA CIMSA UNAIR held an activity entitled “BRACELET” to show the urgency of awareness of those cancers and emphasize on early detection to avoid more manifestations at a late stage.
BRACELET comes as a project including an online campaign series and main event to contribute to Breast Cancer Awareness Month celebration on October annually. This year, SCORA CIMSA UNAIR started a campaign related to breast and cervical cancer. The online campaign series was held for almost a month through social media such as Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and Facebook engaged Campaign Volunteers to take part in this celebration. There are many online campaigns being shared such as Twibbon BRACELET, open donation flyer, short article, myth/fact, true/false, broadcast message, quiz time with rewards, early detection, and main event poster.
There are Podcast with two topics, “Let’s Ask the Expert: About Breast Cancer'' brought to us by dr. Vidi Vianney, Sp.B(K)Onk—an oncologist surgeon and Departemen/SMF Ilmu Bedah RSUD Dr. Soetomo Staff, and “Let’s Ask the Expert: About Cervical Cancer” delivered by dr. Rebecca N. Angka, M.Biomed from Perhimpunan Onkologi Indonesia (POI).
We’ve done an Instagram Live Talk Session themed “A Journey Behind the Survivor” as another main event collaborating with Mrs. Nitta Suzanna as Breast Cancer Survivor and Hotline Service Coordinator from Yayasan Kanker Payudara Indonesia and hosted by Member of SCORA CIMSA UNAIR. She shared her up and down journey suffering from breast cancer since 2015 and encouraged the viewers to take care of themselves. Besides that, we also started a charity, “Open Donation BRACELET” on October 6th – 28th, 2021 in order to provide counseling and prevention related to breast cancer for the public to support YKPI programs.
Through this event, we hope that the entire BRACELET events can provide many benefits to the society so they are able to understand and be aware of breast and cervical cancer. Therefore, the incidence of these two types of cancer can be decreased.
