(Atasi Stunting dengan Meningkatkan ASI Eksklusif, Antenatal Care, Sanitasi, Imunisasi, dan Pola Asuh)
SCOPH & SCORA CIMSA FK Unpad
Continuing the success of last year’s community development “Bunda Geulis” activity, SCORA and SCOPH CIMSA FK Unpad came back with this year’s activity titled “Auntie Centil”. Auntie Centil is a community development program focusing on educating and raising the self-awareness of the people from Desa Jatiroke, Jatinangor about stunting, exclusive breastfeeding, antenatal care, and parenting. Due to the scale of Desa Jatiroke, the responsibility of raising the self-awareness of the topics bestowed to the cadres from Desa Jatiroke.
The COVID-19 pandemic forced us to carry out the activity online via zoom meetings which in turn lessens the bond between us and Desa Jatiroke’s cadres, but it’s a necessary precaution to mitigate the spread of the virus.
Auntie Centil is divided into 3 interventions, each of which has a different purpose. In this article, we’re talking about the first intervention which acts as a means to strengthen the bond between us. As mentioned before about the online method could lessen the bond between us and the cadres, we held interesting and fun activities for this intervention to get closer and bond with the cadres so that we can perform further intervention flawlessly.
On the 13th of September 2021, the first activity is introducing the Auntie Centil committee to Desa Jatiroke’s cadres so that both parties can get to know each other better. We also held a Zumba session led by Ms. Wilona Arieta Gatraputri as a representative from our partner at salsalivefit. The activity is greeted with enthusiasm from Desa Jatiroke’s cadres. After the Zumba session, the cadres compete in a friendly game of song and tv show guessing.
The second day of the first intervention was held on the 22nd of September 2021. On this day we reviewed last year’s topic. The cadres were split into two smaller groups using Zoom’s breakout room feature. The facilitators in each breakout room explain immunization and exclusive breastfeeding and then open a QnA session about the topics. After the review, the cadres compete once again in a friendly game of guessing now with spices theme and fried rice decorating. At the end of the day, we announced the winners of today’s games and also the first day’s winners.
The COVID-19 pandemic was not an obstacle for us to have a good impact on others. It forces us to find another way to do the activity. We gained experiences and bond with each other despite the circumstances. Our hope is that we can continue to improve, bond, and help others until the end of this activity and beyond.
