AETHER 2021
(Anxiety Education for Teenagers)
CIMSA UNAIR
According to WHO, 2017, the estimated number of people with mental and behavioral disorders in the world is around 450 million. According to YLDs data (years of life due to illness or disability), the percentage of people with mental disorders globally and Southeast Asia is 14.4% and 13.5%, respectively (IHME, 2017). Whereas in Indonesia itself, anxiety disorder ranks second as a mental disorder causing a Disability-Adjusted Life Year (DALYs) (IHME, 2017) with a percentage ranging from 9% - 12% of the general population. Some people in Indonesia tend to ignore this, and anxiety disorders are considered normal, not something that must be handled (Wibowo, 2014). Therefore, we held an event with the theme "Anxiety Disorder." Through this activity, it is hoped that it can help open up insights and increase the community's sensitivity, mainly the target, namely high school children, regarding "Anxiety Disorder."
Our event called AETHER: Anxiety Education for Teenagers aims to increase the public's and high schools' knowledge and awareness regarding anxiety disorder, increase self-confidence in high school students, and decrease public stigma regarding anxiety disorder or mental illness in general.
Our event, AETHER (Anxiety Education for Teenagers) 2021, is a project for newbies CIMSA UNAIR held on January 30th, 2021. This event brought up a topic about mental health and consisted of two sessions, namely Anxiety Disorder 101 presented by dr. Azimatul Karimah, Sp.KJ (K) and APEX (Anxiety Pre-Exam) presented by Syaogi Ahmed ‘Azizy and Amelia Mathilda. Participants who took part in AETHER 2021 are the general public, incredibly high school students.
The event's impact was seen on the post-test result that the participants did and from the evaluation form. Almost all AETHER 2021 felt that AETHER 2021 was an exciting event because the event was running on time. The material was advantageous and had a lot of positive impacts on everyone.
After this event, it is hoped that the participants will have better knowledge and understanding of Anxiety Disorder.
