HIV AIDS is an infectious disease with a very high prevalence in Indonesia. According to data from the Ministry of Health in 2019, in Indonesia, there are more than 50 thousand cases of HIV and 7000 cases of AIDS with HIV cases increasing in the last 10 years. The percentage of PLHIV for the period January-March 2021 was found to be highest at the age of 25-49 years (71.3%), followed by those aged 20-24 years (16.3%) where this age is productive. The number of cases of HIV & AIDS is inversely proportional to the public's knowledge of the disease so it creates a lot of negative stigma and discrimination against sufferers, namely Orang Dengan HIV AIDS (ODHA). Therefore, there is a need for intensive education about HIV&AIDS to the public so that the community can dispel myths about the disease so can support each other between the community and ODHA.
In the framework of World AIDS Day 2022, SCORA CIMSA UMSBY presents ADIOS (An eDucatIon Of AIDS). The activity began with pre-activity training on HIV AIDS on December 16 2022 with the speaker Khalilullah from CIMSA USK. The training succeeded in increasing the pre-test to post-test scores of 25 trainees with an average of 85. While the main activity was carried out on Sunday, December 25, 2022, at Bungkul Park, Surabaya in a car-free day event, and this activity was attended by 30 members of CIMSA UMSBY, especially SCORA. The concept of this activity is a campaign by providing education to the general public from teenagers to adults regarding HIV AIDS. The education provided is in the form of understanding HIV AIDS, how it is transmitted prevention that must be carried out, and education related to what must be addressed when together with ODHA.
Each ADIOS participant provided education to different communities and also distributed several HIV AIDS pamphlets and in this activity, it was targeted that 54 pamphlets were distributed to 54 target communities as well. In this activity, the target was successfully achieved and the people who could be educated were able to exceed the target, namely up to 70 people. Simultaneously with this activity, live reports were also distributed via Instagram CIMSA UMSBY and Instagram participants to get 250 impressions.
This ADIOS is a learning event for participants as medical students, namely, they can add insight regarding HIV AIDS and become an experience in educating others. ADIOS can also help the government's efforts to reduce the prevalence of HIV AIDS in Indonesia which is quite high because indirectly more and more people are getting an education about the transmission and prevention of HIV AIDS. If people already have good knowledge about HIV AIDS, they will take better care of themselves so they don't get infected with the disease.
