What is the WHO Internship Program?

The WHO Internship Program offers young people an opportunity to work in a WHO department for a period of 6 weeks to 6 months. Interns are supported by a supervisor, and contribute to the daily work of the department. It is an opportunity to learn about the work of the WHO, gain important skills, and positively contribute towards global health at the highest level.

The objectives of WHO Internships are:

  1. Provide a framework for assigning postgraduate students from diverse academic backgrounds to WHO programmes that can enhance their educational experience through practical assignments.
  2. Expose students to the work of WHO.
  3. Provide WHO programmes with input from students specializing in various fields. Most students are placed in health-related programmes, although other disciplines can be considered as appropriate such as communication, external relations or human resources.
