Dear Medical Students of Indonesia,

CIMSA is delighted to announce that the call for the IFMSA delegation to the Asia-Pacific Medical Education Conference (APMEC) 2023 is officially opened! This year’s APMEC will take place in a hybrid format from 22–23 May 2023 (online oral presentations) and 26–27 May 2023 (onsite or online main conference).

What is APMEC?

2023 marks the 20th anniversary of the Asia-Pacific Medical Education Conference (APMEC). This anniversary is an even more important one as we celebrate two decades of academic collaborations. It’s also important in other ways as part of a collective and international identity that has shaped us and improved our work. The theme of this auspicious year is “Celebrating Excellence in Scholarship of Teaching and Learning – Trends. Issues. Priorities. Strategies”.

Over the main conference, a variety of workshops and symposia, addressing teaching and learning, assessments, continuing medical education, and leadership, will provide a structured platform for engaging discussions with leading medical educationalists and other healthcare professionals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Apart from the main conference, there are also pre-conference and post-conference Essential Skills in Medical Education (ESME) workshops. Participants will have to pay an additional registration fee for those.

Registration Fees

The fee structure for undergraduate students are as follow (please refer here for other categories/additional workshops):

• Online: 100 SGD (Singaporean Dollars)

• Onsite: 300 SGD 

Please note that the oral presentations on 22–23 May 2023 will be online regardless of which format you register for. The main conference on 26–27 May 2023 may be online or onsite with the corresponding fees.

Important Note: Unfortunately, CIMSA and IFMSA are not able to cover the registration fees and any flight or accommodation costs of the selected delegates. 

Selection Criteria

• Responsible, hard-working individuals

• Ideally with some experience in external meetings

• Interests and knowledge on the conference theme

• An applicant that has a clear plan on their experience in the delegation

• An applicant with some IFMSA experience

In choosing the delegation, IFMSA will seek to ensure gender, NMO, and sub-regional balance. We would also like to encourage less experienced participants to apply - knowledge transfer is a goal in and of itself for us.

How can you apply?

• Fill out the IFMSA external meeting application form (Link)

• Upload your Candidature Form (Link), signed and stamped by the NMO president in the Google Form.

Both action points need to be completed/sent before 18 February 2023, 23:59 GMT+7. In the case that the action point is missing, the application will be considered invalid.

Accepted applicants will receive online preparation as soon as the results are released. IFMSA commits to train, brief, and prepare all delegates to the meeting; and to smoothly coordinate the delegation during the meeting.
